Commenting on The Archbishop of Canterbury’s comments on annualised interest rates, Ray Perry, Chief Executive of the National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA), said:
New figures from the National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA) show that the pawnbroking industry grew by 8 per cent last year, outstripping performance in most other business sectors, despite the falling price of gold. There are now 2,144 pawnbrokers in the UK operating in a market worth £865 million.
The National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA) Annual Conference and Awards Dinner will take place in London on 11 October 2013. The theme this year is ‘Opportunities through change’.
The 81st NPA Annual Conference and Awards were held in London on 12th October 2012. The theme of the conference was ‘Excellence in Pawnbroking’. Delegates discussed themes including how pawnbroking has changed, the impact of legislation on the industry, and how pawnbrokers are working in partnership with the Police to help prevent and combat crime.
UK pawnbrokers will discuss how they are adapting their businesses to deliver excellence in customer service at the National Pawnbrokers Association’s (NPA’s) Annual Conference on Friday 12 October.
In response to the sharp rise of house burglaries involving stolen jewellery as the world gold price rises Ray Perry, Chief Executive of the National Pawnbrokers Association, has teamed up with Surrey Police and industry partners to launch ‘The Gold Standard’ a new voluntary code of conduct which will help police trace stolen jewellery if someone tries to sell or pawn it.
