The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has published data for the final quarter of 2017

Between October and December they handled 147,775 enquiries from consumers, taking on 81,647 new cases – with 9,326 complaints passed to an ombudsman as the final stage of our complaints handling process.

  • PPI remained the most complained about financial product, with 43,394 new cases
  • Current accounts were the second most complained about product, with 4,976 new cases.
  • There were 6632 complaints about Pay Day Lending (HCST unsecured loans), whilst Pawnbroking complaints were too small to register quarterly but in the last full year totalled 12 upheld complaints in the whole year.
