Rishi Sunak plans to reduce the benefits of the Job Retention scheme from July. He intends to reduce wage subsidies to companies’ workers off the government’s by changing the details of the furloughing scheme. Salary subsidies will be cut. The chancellor will announce plans week commencing 11th May to wind down the JRS from July to get people back to work as the lockdown is eased. He plans to cut 80 per cent wage subsidy and lowering the £2,500 cap on monthly payments.
